Kathmandu: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has submitted its annual report for the financial year 2080/081 to President Ramchandra Paudel.

The NHRC Chair Tapa Bahadur Magar presented the annual report to President Paudel at a program held at Rastrapati Bhawan Shital Niwas on earlier today.

Receiving the report, President Paudel said that the concept of a lawful state and multi-party democratic governance system will be strengthened only if human rights are respected, protected and promoted in the country. “If human rights can be respected, protected and promoted then no citizen would be deprived of human rights.”

The President also stressed on creating a culture of human rights by putting into practice the fundamental democratic values and beliefs such as democratic governance system, civil liberties, fundamental rights, adult suffrage and freedom of the press.

President Paudel expressed his belief that human rights-friendly society would be built if the commission as well as government and non-government organizations work actively towards it. (RSS)
