Myagdi: The avalanche-blocked Boksi rivulet at Thasang Rural Municipality-2 in Mustang district has started flowing since this morning after about 13 hours.
The rivulet was completely blocked by the avalanche that fell from Manapathi Mountain in the Dhawalagiri glacier on Tuesday evening.
Spokesperson of the municipal executive Gautam Sherchan, also the ward chair of Thasang-2, said the river that has been blocked since Tuesday morning has started been flowing.
“The rivulet was completely dried up due to the accumulation of snow and landslide at around 5.45 pm on Tuesday”, he said, adding, “We have adopted precautionary measures in the embankment areas with the water level gradually increasing in the rivulet”.
Sherchan said the snow piled up in gorges was melted by the water current of the rivulet.
Nine houses in the embankment areas were shifted to safer places at night.
Thasang rural municipality-2 ward member Bhim Prasad Thakali said that the snow and landslides have not caused any human or physical damage.
It was shared that snow was accumulated up to about one kilometer below Mulkharka of the rivulet. (RSS)
