Kathmandu: The Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee has introduced a comprehensive plan to boost revenue collection in the current fiscal year by taking measures such curbing revenue leakages and expanding tax-friendly services.
In the meeting presided by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel in Singha Durbar today, Heads of the agencies playing key role in revenue collection including Minister for Finance Ramesh Lekhak among others discussed and decided strategies to meet annual revenue collection target.
The meeting decided to form a basis for evaluation of the employees and security personnel deployed in revenue administration to achieve revenue target.
Important decisions taken in today’s meeting include mobilizing a rapid patrolling team all over the country to address revenue leakage.
Minister Paudel outlined other measures such as effective implementation of action-plans for controlling revenue leakage, ensuring businessperson complying the legal business practices are not inconvenienced while those involved in illegal financial activities will not be spared.
Furthermore, the relevant subordinate agencies of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Finance will coordinate efforts to address revenue leakages.
He called for regular rotation of employees and security personnel working in revenue administration sector to break the pattern of forming undue rapport among themselves for revenue leakage.
Highlighting the importance of leveraging technology to fight corruption, he shared that scrutiny will carried out through scanners in border points.
On the occasion, the Minister instructed to encourage the practice of taking and giving invoice/bill in the market, to make classification and evaluation of imported goods realistic and to seriously investigate the possible leakage of revenue by issuing fake invoices.
Similarly, Minister Lekhak urged the taxpayers to comply with their tax obligations. He also pledged all necessary support from his Ministry in achieving revenue targets by controlling revenue leakage.
Other participants also expressed their commitment to make exchange of information effective and enhance coordination for effectively controlling revenue leakage and boosting revenue collection. (RSS)
