Kathmandu: An indefinite curfew order has been issued in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City in Banke, citing signs of religious tension between Hindu and Muslim communities.
The Banke District Administration Office has issued the curfew order effective from 1 PM today. Recently, there have been incidents of communal tension between Hindu and Muslim communities in Nepalgunj, according to local authorities.
In an effort to maintain religious harmony, a peace rally was also organized in Nepalgunj on Tuesday. Earlier, the Banke District Administration had issued a notice on Monday, urging people not to engage in activities that could disrupt religious harmony or spread religious animosity.
