Kathmandu: Siromani Dhungana, the editor of Nepal Live Today, has said the Swasthya Khabar Health Award serves as a platform to honor and celebrate the exceptional efforts of healthcare professionals who consistently surpass the expectations of their regular duties. While addressing the Swasthya Khabar Health Award ceremony in Kathmandu on Friday, he said the award program holds a special place in Nepal’s health sector, symbolizing excellence and innovation.
Nepal Live Group, the publisher of Swasthya Khabar Patrika, Nepal Live and Nepal Live Today, felicitated over a dozen individuals and institutions–from Nepal and beyond–for contributing to improving Nepal’s health service delivery and policy reforms with awards at a special ceremony organized in the capital on Friday. The award was distributed by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal who attended the program as the chief guest.
“As enshrined in the constitution of Nepal, the right to health holds immense significance, and as responsible media representatives, our team at Swasthya Khabar has been actively contributing to strengthening health at the local, provincial, and federal levels,” Dhungana said.
Since 2010, Swasthya Khabar health award has been provided to individuals, institutions, and community-based health professionals or volunteers who have made remarkable contributions to the advancement of healthcare in Nepal. “The overarching objective of this award is to recognize and reward the exceptional achievements of healthcare professionals whose work has had a tangible impact on the healthcare outcomes of our nation,” Dhungana further said. “It serves as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for your unwavering dedication, tireless efforts, and unwavering commitment to serving those in need.”
The theme for the 2023 award was chosen as ‘Health and wellbeing for all.’ “This choice reflects our deep understanding that the involvement of all stakeholders, including the media sector, is crucial in achieving the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” Dhungana mentioned. “This edition of the award aims to recognize the ongoing efforts to attain the health-related SDGs and inspire all stakeholders to continue their endeavors towards achieving universal health coverage.”
He also announced that from now on, the Swasthya Khabar Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of the publication, will assume full responsibility for organizing the award ceremony. “We eagerly anticipate forging meaningful partnerships with each one of you in the days to come, as we work together to create a healthier and more prosperous Nepal,” he said.
