Kathmandu: Scores of cooperative victims from Maitighar Mandala were arrested by the police on Sunday.
The protesters, carrying placards and banners adorned with various slogans, were demanding action against cooperative owners who had failed to return money to depositors and those who were evading justice, as well as seeking resolution for the depositors’ issues, among other concerns.
The rally, initially commencing from Maitighar, eventually reached New Baneshwar and transformed into a gathering at a corner. For the last 45 days, victims of these cooperatives had been staging a sit-in at Maitighar, pleading with the authorities for assistance in retrieving their hard-earned savings.
