Kathmandu: Nepal lost to Ireland in a thrilling encounter played in the seventh place playoff of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier played in Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
Ireland, a test nation, beat Nepal in the final over of the match losing eight wickets. Earlier, Ireland won the toss and invited Nepal to bat first. The rhinos had a shaky start, but a late cameo from Gulsan Jha and Sandeep Lamichhane helped Nepal reach 268 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.
Jha scored 57 runs off 42 balls which included four fours and three sixes. Likewise, Kushal Malla scored 44 runs with the help of five fours and two sixes.
With the win, Ireland secured the seven position in the 10-team tournament.
