Washington, USA: Global Bhutanese Organization-GBO, a charitable non-profit organization operating globally, is holding its third convention in September in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The convention will take place on 2 September 2023, according to the organizer. The event will be hosted jointly by the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh-BCAP, Himalayan Foundation-USA, Omkar Pariwar Pittsburgh, Kirat Rai Yayokha Pittsburh, S & K Education Center in collaboration with the other local organizations.
The GBO has formed a Convention Program Organizing Committee at the State and Nation levels. The committee is led by DB Rai while Mitra Subedi, Khara Timsina, TB Gurung, Jiwan Pradhan, TR Yamphu Rai, Sancha Man Rai, Biswaz Gurung, Denzome Sampang, Chandra Sitaula, Bhagat Rai, Binay Luitel, Anita Sharma, Lilly Subba, Parma Rizal, BB Poudyel, Migmar Tamang, Kubir Tiwari, Som Dhakal, Jhalak Adhikari, Ashok Gurung, Bhim Gurung, Taran Tiwari, Bishnu Khadka, Ganga Tiwari, Harka Subba, Draupadi Pradhan, Shiva L Dahal, Indra Gurung, Deepak Giri, Shanta Monger, Arjun Pradhan, Janga Kalikotey, Mukesh Gurung, Jagannath Adhikari, Ranjit Pradhan, and Anand Bista are member of the committee.
The major interactions and events of the convention include GBO project presentation, annual reporting, fundraising for refugee children’s education, nutrition, healthcare, and GBO relief support programs operating in the Bhutanese refugee camps in Beldangi, Damak, Jhapa and Pathari Sansischare, Morang, Nepal.
Similarly, the event will also include progress updates from GBO countries, states, and city chapters. Cultural performances by emerging Bhutanese and Nepali artists will also be one of the major events during the convention. Apart from these, the organizer will also honor GBO’s donors, partnering organizations, volunteers, sponsors, and State host activities.
The Global Bhutanese Organization-GBO in collaboration with the eight resettled Bhutanese Communities, in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, The UK, and the USA, has been facilitating financial and resources support for Early Childhood Education Program, ECDC Beldangi, Shree Batika Bal Bikash Kender, Pathari Sanischare Camp, Healthcare service, disaster management & relief support programs from 2020.
So far, GBO has funded over 13 million Nepalese Rupees for GBO-initiated humanitarian projects operating in the camps with the help of contributions from its partnering organizations, stakeholders, donors, and individuals.
After the resettlement of Bhutanese refugees, this is the first time in history, more than 60 profit, nonprofits, faith-based and cultural organizations, and many individuals helping hands have extended their solidarity and financial support to GBO initiative projects.
GBO’s current projects include early childhood education for 300 children, children’s nutrition program, healthcare, employment generation programs, and support to vulnerable families during a disaster and grieving situations in camp on various occasions.
