Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has issued a show cause notice to the government regarding the grant of amnesty to Resham Chaudhary, who was convicted of murder in the Tikapur incident.
A single bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut issued the notice on Tuesday.
On Republic Day, following the government’s recommendation, President Ramchandra Paudel granted amnesty to Chaudhary, despite his conviction by the District Court, High Court, and Supreme Court for his involvement in the 2015 Tikapur massacre.
The show cause notice was issued in response to a writ petition filed by Sharada Kadayat Bohara, one of the victims of the Tikapur incident, challenging the decision to grant amnesty.
