Kathmandu: The chair of CPN-UML, main opposition in parliament, heavily criticized the policies and programs unveiled by the government for fiscal year 2023/24. President Ram Chandra Paudel had presented the annual policies and programs on Friday.
Oli said that the policies and programs won’t address the problems facing the country. “Prime Minister, take the policies and programs back and bring a new one,” he said while addressing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in parliament. “I also request other parties not to accept this policy and program. It does not deserve to be endorsed by parliament. It should not be endorsed,” Oli said.
Speaking during the deliberations on the government’s policies and programs in a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Oli accused the government of failing to address the needs of the nation and people. He demanded rewriting of the policies and programs.
” The new policies and programs failed to realize the gravity of the 15th periodic plan and review it accordingly,” he said.
On the occasion, Oli also spoke about the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. He demanded fair investigation into the case adding “each guilty in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam should be prosecuted and no innocent should be blamed for it.”
He also advised Prime Minister to prioritize the issue of national interests during his upcoming visit to India.
Meanwhile, as many as 20 lawmakers have registered amendment proposals on the government’s policies and programs. Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed the House about the registration of amendment proposals at the parliament secretariat.
