Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transportation Narayan Kaji Shrestha was with the loan shark victims on Tuesday. A child asked him such questions which he struggled to answer.
“What is the court created for?” She asked. “To deliver justice,” the minister replied. “But nowadays the court takes bribe money,” said the child.
Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha tried to convince the girl by saying that bribe takers will also be punished. The girl did not stop. She kept questioning that the loan sharks threatened her but they were not being punished. It could be sensed that she was feeling insecure. Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha tried to step aside by saying ‘your safety is assured’.
The loan shark victims had arrived in Kathmandu on Monday after walking for 12 days to make the government heed to their demands. The government has decided to enact a law to criminalize loan sharking practice.
