Kathmandu: Senior leader of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) Jhalanath Khanal is trailing behind in vote counting for the election of the House of Representative from Illam-1. Khanal is trailing behind by a margin of 2,502 votes.
As per the latest counting update, Mahesh Basnet of CPN (UML) has received a total of 24,304 votes, while Khanal has bagged 21,802 votes.
Earlier, the vote counting of the constituency was halted as Khanal claimed electoral fraud. He also said he would not accept the results.
