Nuwakot: Room to Read, in collaboration with RUDEC Nepal and Nepal Children’s Literature Society, organized the Children’s Literature Fest in Nuwakot district on September 20-21.
The two-day fest, organized on the premises of Nuwakot Adarsha Bahumukhi Campus, is aimed at improving the reading habit of children. It was participated by nearly 3,000 students from 22 different schools.
The theme of the program was “Kitab Padhau, Aghi Badhau”—which translates to “Read Books, Move Forward”.
The Fest, according to the organizer, featured children’s book exhibitions, speeches, discussions, cultural dances and songs, and informative dramas.
According to the organizer, informative lecture sessions were also conducted in individual rooms–where students got a chance to choose from a wide range of subjects like art, acting, storytelling, story writing, essay writing, and many more.
“The program was organized in Nuwakot to promote regular reading habits among the students here,” said Netra Dahal, Program Director at Room to Read during his short speech.
“The Fest this time is held in Nuwakot, but in the upcoming days, we plan to organize similar events in other districts as well,” added Dahal.
The Fest was chaired by Rajendra Bikram Singh Thakuri, coordinator of District Coordination Committee Nuwakot. Likewise, K K Karmacharya from Nepal Lalitkala Pragya Pratisthan was the chief guest.
