Kathmandu: The Jamune-Khaireni road under the Prithviraj highway has been blocked by landslides triggered by incessant rain since Saturday night. The highway has been shut for two-way traffic since this morning after a landslide occurred in Mauryodar, Myagde Rural Municipality-6.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Khadka said that the Jamune-Khairenitar road has been completely blocked after a landslide fell on the road. He said that a police team is working to clear the landslide debris.
As rain continues, it is likely to take some time before the road is opened for traffic.
Likewise, the Rapti river has blocked the road in Tharpu Bazar of ward number 4 in the same rural municipality. Local resident Bhimalal Shrestha said that the river has started flowing over the road.
