Kathmandu: At the initiative of the Nepal Medical Association, 46 Nepali doctors have reached Chandigarh, India for a week-long training. The training started today.
The training was formally inaugurated by Dr Lochan Karki, President of Nepal Medical Association.
The training is aimed at providing opportunities for learning and sharing of experience and capacity enhancement of Nepali doctors.
At the initiative of the association, 1,500 Nepali doctors will take part in the training. In the first phase, 46 people participated in the training, according to the association.
According to Dr Karki, an agreement has been reached through the Indian Embassy for training on various areas under the embassy’s ITEC program.
The program offers different packages–one, two and three-week and a month long training on various subjects. As many as 1500 doctors will take part in training in India under this program, the association said.
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health has started providing training to Nepali doctors on ‘International Public Health Management Development’.
After completion of the first phase, other groups will also go to India for training. The association has formed a transparent selection committee to finalize the names of doctors for training, it said.
