Health institutions, too, to have two-day weekend

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to implement a two-day public holiday provision in health institutions as well.

Earlier, the government declared a two-day public holiday in a week effective from May 15.

According to Ministry secretary Dr Roshan Pokhrel, the provision is applicable to hospitals as well. “But we are discussing alternatives as well for the convenience of patients requiring healthcare services during public holidays. 

“The flow of patients in hospitals is likely to be high on Mondays–after a break of two days. The government will also enhance emergency services in hospitals,” Secretary Pokhrel said.
