Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday is hearing a writ petition filed by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari (suspended) against his suspension.

A single bench of Justice Hari Phunyal is hearing the case.

In his petition, Adhikari has sought to scrap the government’s decision to form a committee to probe into him without prior information and seeking clarification.

The government had suspended Adhikari reasoning that he failed to accomplish the assigned duty of the central bank.

The Cabinet meeting held on April 7 had decided to investigate the role of Governor Adhikari after he allegedly leaked sensitive information about NRB.
