Kathmandu: The third edition of the Himalayan Hydro Expo concluded on Monday. The organizers said the three-day expo contributed to the development and expansion of the energy sector in the country.
During the closing ceremony, Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPAN) demanded the government allow private sector to distribute and export electricity produced within the country.
IPAN Chairman Krishna Prasad Acharya requested Minister for Energy Pampha Bhusal not to obstruct the electricity purchase and sell agreement.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari had inaugurated the expo organized by Independent Power Producers’ Association (IPPAN) and Expo and Event Management Service Private Limited on Saturday.
More than six technical sessions and an interactive session were conducted during the expo organized with the slogan ‘’Creating Market for Nepali’s Hydropower”.
Similarly, more than 100 stalls by power producers, hydropower equipment producers, suppliers, designers, consultants, insurance companies, investors, and bank and financial institutions were showcased during the exhibition.
Companies and stakeholders from China, India, Canada, Norway, South Korea, Germany, Australia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Brazil participated in the expo.
