Kathmandu: Nepal has entered the final of the Tri-Nation T20I Series defeating Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 37 runs on Thursday.
Nepal secured its entry to the final of the tournament ahead of one match topping the points table with six points from three matches. PNG is placed third with zero points from three matches.
Chasing 204 runs target set by Nepal, PNG managed to get only 166 runs on the board losing all wickets in 19.4 overs as Karan KC completed a hat-trick. Charles Amini top-scored at 62 runs off 47 balls smashing nine fours. Tony Ura and Sese Bau contributed 43 and 25 runs respectively.
Karan KC grabbed five wickets as Sompal Kami and Abinash Bohara took two wickets each. KC completed his 50 wickets in T20I during the match. KC grabbed the first wicket of Papua New Guinea (PNG) in a match under Tri-Nation T20I Series on Thursday to reach the milestone.
KC bagged the wicket of Lega Siaka in the fourth ball of the first over. KC, who debuted for Nepal in 2015 through a match against the Netherlands, has played 35 T20I matches so far. KC is the second Nepali player to complete 50 wickets in T20I. Earlier, Sandeep Lamichhane reached the 50-wicket milestone.
Earlier, Nepal set 204 runs target against PNG. Nepal managed to get a commendable total on the board losing seven wickets in stipulated 20 overs, courtesy half-century inning by Dipendra Singh Airee.
Airee made 66 runs off 33 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes. He completed his half-century in the 18th over by hitting Norman Vanua for three sixes in a row. Rohit Paudel and Aasif Sheikh contributed 41 and 38 runs respectively.
