Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) administration has refused to register a writ petition filed demanding an order to stop the parliamentary ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Advocate Surendra Prasad Bhandari had moved the apex court with a writ petition demanding an interim order to stop the parliamentary endorsement of the Compact.
Advocate Bhandari, in his writ, has said that the MCC agreement does not meet the criteria of a treaty as per the Vienna Convention and the Treaty Act 2047 BS, so can’t be presented in the Parliament.
Spokesperson of the Supreme Court Baburam Dahal said that the writ was not registered as the Compact has been already tabled in the Parliament.
The USD 500 million Nepal Compact was tabled in Parliament on Sunday
