Kathmandu: A joint team of French and Nepali rescuers has recovered the bodies of three French climbers missing on Khangtega Mountain in the Khumbu region in Solukhumbu, an eastern district of Nepal.
“The bodies were spotted on Sunday. However, the rescuers failed to recover the bodies yesterday due to adverse weather conditions. The bodies were recovered today afternoon,” confirmed Inspector Rishi Raj Dhakal, chief of the Solukhumbu District Police Office.
Three French nationals—Thomas Arfi, Gabriel Miloche and Louis Pachoud—had gone missing in the Khumbu region since the last 13 days.
The bodies have already been brought to the Kathmandu-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
According to Inspector Dhakal, the bodies were found deep in the avalanche.
Earlier, a trained team of security forces and French nationals was mobilized to search the missing climbers.
