Kathmandu: The government will be administering over 100,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines to children aged 12-18 years from November 14. The vaccines were donated by the United States under the COVAX facility.
Sagar Dahal, Chief of the Child Health and Vaccination Branch of the Family Welfare Division, said that the vaccination program will be held at 24 hospitals delivering specialist services.
Dahal added that vaccination centers have been set up at 24 hospitals including nine in the Kathmandu Valley and 15 outside the Valley.
He said that the chronically ill people above 18 years of age who were not vaccinated earlier will also be administered the vaccine.
The government has decided to vaccinate children in the age group of 12 to 18 years with Pfizer and Modern vaccines. For that, Nepal has signed an agreement with Pfizer for the purchase of six million doses and four million doses of vaccine through the COVAX facility.
As of Sunday, 28.3 percent of the total population in Nepal has been vaccinated with the first dose and 21.7 percent have received the full dose.
