Chitwan National Park opens for tourists

With the onset of the festival season, the decision is expected to revive the pandemic-stricken tourism industry in the area.

Chitwan: Chitwan National Park (CNP) has resumed tourism activities which were halted since the beginning of the second wave of Covid-19.

According to Ananath Baral, the Chief Conservation Officer at CNP, all sorts of tourism activities have been resumed inside and outside the park.

Jeep safaris, elephant safaris, and jungle walks have begun. Visitors can spend their nights in the tower-houses built inside the community forest adjacent to the park. Boat rides on the Rapti River, which flows through the park, have also resumed.

“Tourists visiting Sauraha will be able to engage in all the activities of the national park,” Deepak Bhattarai, President of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha informed. According to him, the number of domestic tourists has been rising as the festive season is approaching.
