Kathmandu: Lalitpur Patriots beat Biratnagar Warriors by 37 runs in a match under the Everest Premier League (EPL) on Friday.
At the match played at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground in Kirtipur, Lalitpur Patriots set 227 runs target for Biratnagar Warriors.
Chasing down the target, Biratnagar Warriors managed to get only 189 runs on the board losing eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Dilshan Munaweera contributed the highest 59 runs off 39 balls hitting five fours and four sixes. Azmatullah Omarzai of Lalitpur grabbed four wickets in his kitty.
Earlier, electing to field first after winning the toss, Biratnagar Warriors, notched up 226 runs losing five wickets in 20 overs. Sandun Weerakkody top-scored at 73 runs off 43 balls smashing 10 fours and three sixes. Likewise, Azmatullah Omarzai contributed 58 runs.
Karan KC of Biratnagar Warriors grabbed two wickets.
With the win, Lalitpur Patriots has been placed fourth in the points tally with three points while Biratnagar Warriors remains last.
