Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index increased by 161.94 points on Monday to climb to 2,980.79 points. It is the highest single-day increase in the stock market.
Likewise, the Sensitive Index that measures the performance of big companies went up by 31.41 points and closed at 553.40 points.
All the sub-indices increased today with the non-life insurance sub-index registering an increase by 643.63 points. The stock market registered a total turnover of Rs nine billion with 17,922,588 shares of 224 scrips traded today.
Nepse index had gone down by 108.26 points on Sunday to close at 2818.72 points.
The stock market witnessed a massive surge today following direction from Finance Minister Janardan Sharma to Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari to resolve issues related to the stock market. The stock market had witnessed a freefall yesterday with panic sell following a policy change by the central bank regarding margin loans.
