Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday said it recorded a total of 2,624 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, active Covid-19 cases have crossed the 39,000-mark.
A total of 1,947 people were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 677 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method.
A total of 13,573 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry said 8,668 samples were tested through the PCR method while 4,906 samples were through the antigen method. The positivity rate stands at 19.33 percent.
This takes the total number of positive cases in the country to 730,479 confirmed through RT-PCR tests and another 74,711 through antigen tests.
Likewise, altogether 1,320 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 93.2 percent.
According to the Ministry, 20 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 10,259.
Nepal currently has 39,405 active cases. Out of them, 36,002 are in home isolation and 3,403 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 760 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 186 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 411 are currently quarantined.
Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated people reaches 3,303,578 while 4,674,318 have received the first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus infection, the Ministry said.
