Kathmandu: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is set to unveil the monetary policy for the fiscal year 2021/22 on Friday. Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari will make the monetary policy public at 4 pm today after it is endorsed by the Board of Directors of the central bank.
The monetary policy for the current fiscal year has been delayed following a change in the government. It said that the monetary policy has been delayed due to the Finance Ministry’s preparations to replace the budget brought by the previous government through an ordinance.
Economists have criticized the central bank for a delay in unveiling the monetary policy saying it would affect the overall financial and economic sector. The central bank was under immense pressure to bring monetary policy following criticism from several quarters.
NRB sources said that the monetary policy will be made public today following a go-ahead from Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
