Kathmandu: Parliamentary Party leader of CPN (Maoist Center) Lumbini Kul Prasad KC has been appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on Thursday. Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed KC to the post after the deadline set to stake a claim for a new government expired.
Earlier today, a four-party alliance had submitted signatures of 42 lawmakers to Province Chief Sherchan proposing KC as a new Chief Minister. Lawmakers from CPN (Maoist Center), Nepali Congress, Janata Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha have supported KC.
Lumbini Province Chief Sherchan on Wednesday had called on political parties to stake a claim to lead a new government after Shankar Pokharel tendered his resignation as Chief Minister before Province Assembly begins discussion on a no-confidence motion filed against him.
