Kathmandu: CPN-UML’s central committee members close to a faction of party senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have urged the party leadership for self-criticism.
A meeting of the Nepal faction’s central members concluded that some political decisions made by Party Chair and erstwhile Prime Minister were wrong and the party leadership should take to self–criticism.
The meeting cited the lack of self-respect, culture of co-existence, and we-feeling inside the party and underlined the need of promoting the culture of consensus in the days ahead.
Stating that the 10-point proposal submitted by the party’s dispute resolution task force on July 12 was not enough to give a way out to the existing intra-party feud and more homework was needed for the same. The meeting stressed the need of restoring the party’s image.
The meeting has concluded that the party convention’s date fixation in lower levels with a unilateral decision from Chair Oli’s side was wrong.
Now, the standing committee leaders are delivering their views in the meeting after CC members’ comments.
Central member Jagannath Khatiwada said that they wanted to be clear on the agendas as the 10-point pact prepared by the task force failed to clear all issues.
He added that the meeting searched for meaningful and respectable unity of the party minimizing the psychological gaps and misunderstandings.
