Kathmandu: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and a social e-commerce start-up company, Sagoon, have signed a memorandum of understanding for mutual cooperation.
In the MoU, NRNA lauded Sagoon for its role in promoting Nepal and the Nepali Diaspora globally through social media-based e-commerce. Similarly, NRNA has expressed confidence that Sagoon would help in encouraging the start-up companies of new generations launched by the Nepali diaspora. The two parties have agreed to explore possibilities for collaboration in welfare affairs.
The NRNA which has so far reached 82 countries is promoting innovations and projects of Nepali diaspora since its establishment, according to NRNA central president Kumar Panta. “The NRNA is working to introduce skills, technology, and capital owned by Nepali diaspora in Nepal,’’ he said.
Sagoon’s founder Govinda Giri expressed his hope that the collaboration between the two parties would be for mutual benefit.
The company that was established in 2015 has its offices in the US, Nepal, and India and the number of the users of Sagoon App has reached around 6.5 million. Over 4,500 investors from several 65 nations are associated with this, it is said.
