Kathmandu: The meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to move ahead in the process of forming a new government as per the provision of Article 76 (5) of the Constitution. The decision was taken at the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.
A minister said that PM will not go for a floor test now.
After political parties failed to claim the stake for a new majority government President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on May 13 had appointed Oli as Prime Minister.
Oli was appointed Prime Minister under Article 76 (3) of the Constitution as he is the Parliamentary Party leader of the party that has the highest number of members in the House of Representatives.
If the Prime Minister appointed under Article 76 (3) of the Constitution fails to get a vote of confidence, a process for the formation of a government under Article 76 (5) of the constitution will start.
As per Article 76 (5) of the Constitution, if any member presents a ground on which he or she can obtain a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives, the President shall appoint such member as the Prime Minister.
