Kathmandu: Prithvi Subba Gurung has been reappointed Gandaki Province Chief Minister as the Parliamentary Party leader of the largest political party in Gandaki Province Assembly.
Gurung was appointed as the Chief Minister by Province Chief Sita Poudel on Wednesday. Gurung had resigned from the post on May 9, a day before voting on a no-confidence motion filed against him.
Province Chief Poudel had called for the formation of a government within three days in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution. The deadline expired at 4 pm today.
Despite Nepal Congress Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel laid his claim for forming a new government, two Rastriya Janamorcha lawmakers who had supported him said they were neutral.
After that, Gurung was appointed as the Chief Minister as Parliamentary Party leader of the largest political party in Gandaki Province Assembly according to Article 168 (3) of the Constitution. Now, he must get a vote of confidence from the assembly within 30 days.
