APF seized good transported without paying customs duty

Bara: On Monday, the Armed Police Force(APF) seized a vehicle containing clothes worth more than 1 million rupees from Bhaluhi Bharbaliya village in Jitpur Simara Sub-metropolitan City-23 of Bara district.

A Tata pickup truck was loaded from near Bhutan Devi Temple in Birgunj Metropolitan City-16 and was about to take 20 sacks of clothes towards Jitpu-Simara.

Upon receiving a special tip, the border security forces deployed from the proposed Border Security Force of the Armed Police Force Nepal, Birgunj, under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Lokendra Subba, seized the customs-evading clothing and vehicle.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Thapa, who is also Assistant Spokesperson of the APF, said that the driver fled after abandoning the vehicle Bhaluhi Bharbaliya after getting to know about being followed by Police.

The seized clothes,  sarees and pickup van have been handed over to the Birgunj Customs Office for pick-up and necessary action.

DSP Thapa said that the total customs value of the seized vehicle (Rs 250,000), including the customs value of the clothes (Ts 108, 000), making it a total of Rs. 3,508, 000, and was handed over to the customs office.
