NPL: Janakpur wraps Karnali for 118 runs in Qualifier 2

Kathmandu: Karnali Yaks posted a target of 119 runs for Janakpur Bolts in the Qualifier 2 match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Thursday at Kirtipur.

After winning a toss, Janakpur invited Karnali to bat first, where Karnali made a total of 118 runs in the stipulated 20 overs in 9 wickets.

They aimed to restrict Karnali to a modest score. Janakpur’s Lalit Rajbanshi, James Neesham, and Mohammad Mohsin took two wickets each, whereas Sher Malla and Harsh Thaker took a single wicket each.

Karnali’s Gulsan Jha scored 25 runs, Dev Khanal 24 runs, William Bosisto 14, Unish Thakuri 12, Zeeshan Maqsood 12, Chadwick Walton 11, Sompal Kami 5, Nandan Yadav 4, Arjun Gharti 2, and Jaykishan Kolsawala scored 1 run.

The winner of today’s qualifier 2 will enter the final for the NPL trophy to fight with Sudur Paschim Royals. The loser will fix its position for third. 

Janakpur Bolts was compelled to fight at Qualifier 2 after losing to Sudur Paschim Royals in Qualifier 1, whereas Karnali Yaks reached Qualifier 2 after defeating Chitwan Rhinos in the eliminator match.
