Kathmandu: A meeting of the Finance Committee scheduled for today could not take place due to lack of quorum.
The meeting was summoned to discuss proposed amendments to the Secured Transactions (First Amendment) Bill, 2080 BS. However, it was postponed after only eight members, including Committee President Santosh Chalise, out of the total 23 members, attended the meeting. As per the rules of the House of Representatives (HoR) 2079 BS, a quorum requires the presence of at least 51 per cent of the total members.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who had been invited to attend the meeting to discuss the Bill, was also absent. The meeting has been put off until a further notice, according to Chalise.
