Kathmandu: The contribution made by independent leftist politician and human rights activist Padma Ratna Tuladhar to restoration of peace and democracy in the country have been remembered.

His contribution to raising public awareness against autocratic rule and reinstating peace through his literary creations as a Nepal Bhasa litterateur were eulogized at a programme here today. The Padma Ratna Tuladhar Memorial National Foundation organized the 6th memorial assembly at local Shankhadhar Park in Kathmandu. Tributes were paid to the late Tuladhar at the memorial assembly.

On the occasion, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the late Tuladhar, who had a multi-faceted personality, was established as a writer, humorist and satirist and a politician admired by the people.

“We should all, together, advance the right and positive thoughts that our highly respected colleague Padma Ratna expressed through writing or speeches from the pedestal of art, culture, literature and political movement,” he said, recalling his association with the late Tuladhar not only in the course of political movement and in prison, but also in various fronts.

Tuladhar’s daughter Sumnima Tuladhar described her father as a leader who always worked for the freedom and rights of the Nepali people.

Padma Ratna Lumanti Guthi Chairperson Dr Keshav Man Shakya recalled the late Tuladhar’s contribution in retaining the democratic and the communist forces in the same front during the popular movement for the restoration of democracy.

Renowned Nepal Bhasa poet Durgalal Shrestha was felicitated on the occasion.
