Jhapa: A total of 44 people living on the streets were rescued from the Koshi Province under the Mechi-Mahakali National Rescue Tour-2081 BS.
Among the rescued ones, 35 were male and nine female, according to the campaigners.
The month-long campaign is jointly run by the Manav Sewa Ashram and Ani Choying Drolma Foundation, with the slogan-“None should live on the streets during the festival time.”
Ashram’s President Ramji Adhikari shared that 16 people were rescued from various places in Udayapur district on last Thursday itself. The rescued ones have been rehabilitated in the Ashram’s branch in Biratnagar, Morang district, he said.
There are 47 campaigners involved in the rescue initiative that was inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on October 14.
