Two Indian nationals arrested with gold worth more than Rs 114 million

Hetauda: The Makwanpur Police arrested two Indian nationals with illegally transported gold worth Rs 114 million on Saturday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, a team led by the Superintendent of Police, Bishow Raj Khadka, arrested two people with eight kg worth of gold from the East-West road section at Ratomate checkpoint at ward 15 of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City at 3 AM on Saturday. 

Organizing a press conference on Saturday morning, the district police made public a 25-year-old Abishek Ajinath Kuti, Sangli District of Maharashtra State, India, who was driving scooter, and 27-year-old Rahul Bhitatihal Bad, riding behind scooter, were arrested with eight kgs worth of gold when the scooter with an Indian number plate heading towards Hetauda from Pathlaiya was checked at the Ratomate checkpoint. 

Police found unregistered gold hidden in different parts of the body while searching their bodies and scooters. The gold brought by evading the custom weighed 8 kilos, 243 grams, and 970 milligrams, currently worth Rs 114 million.

Preparation is underway to send the red-handed caught defendants and the recovered gold to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathalaiya, Bara for further investigation. They are currently in police custody.
