Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has instructed the Ministry and its subordinate bodies to deliver in a way that outstanding results will be achieved in terms of targets for the current fiscal year.
Following the signing of a performance contract for the fiscal year 2081-82 BS for the current fiscal year in the Ministry today, the Minister sought the fulfillment of responsibilities and integrity among all to meet the targets of the government policies and programmes, budget, and the periodic plans.
Minister Gurung and Communications Secretary Radhika Aryal signed the agreement amidst a programme at the Ministry and the Secretary signed the agreement with chiefs of various divisions and chiefs of subordinate bodies under the Ministry.
The Minister underlined the need of combined efforts to realize the targets within the deadline.
On the occasion, the Minister said Nepal required its satellite, directing for effective implementation of the concept of the ‘Digital Nepal Framework’ and preparations for implementing the plan for operating the security printing in the country within the current fiscal year. “Security printing is a matter of national security as well and we should be able to print bank notes, postage stamps, passports, and excise duty stickers on our own.”
Likewise, he insisted on the need to develop legal and technological mechanisms for artificial intelligence and implementing the concept of a ‘digital economy’.
He said he is positive about the proposal to establish a dedicated communications academy and to further train employees of State-owned media.
Secretary Aryal requested one and all to fulfill the given responsibilities to meet the targets set for the current fiscal year.
The Communications Secretary signed the agreement with the chief of the Communications Division, Gajendra Kumar Thakur; Director General of the Department of Printing, Anil Kumar Dutta; Frequency Management Division Chief Gaurav Giri; and Chief of the Administration Division, Baburam Bhandari.
Similarly, the Directors General of the Postal Service Department, Gyan Hari Ghimire, the Printing Department, Gopal Koirala, and the Information Technology Department, Prem Sharan Shrestha, have also signed a performance agreement.
Likewise, Amar Dhwoj Lama, the Executive Director of the Radio Broadcasting Service Development Committee; Bishnu Prasad Subedi, the Executive Chair of Gorkhapatra Corporation; Samir Jung Shah, the Executive Chair of Nepal Television; Dharmendra Jha, the Executive Chair of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS); Sangita Lama, the Chair of Minimum Wages Fixation Committee; Laxman Humagain, the Chair of the Advertisement Board; Dinesh DC (Dinesh Raj Dahal), the Chair of Film Development Board; and Sangita Pahadi (Aryal), the Managing Director of Nepal Telecommunications Company Ltd, signed the agreement with the senior body.
