Chitwan: Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, has said the government is serious about addressing the issues of workforce shortage in hospitals across the country.
Talking to the media in Chitwan today, he said the government is preparing to run the MBBS classes in a State-run hospital having at least 300 beds and a nursing class in a facility with at least 200 beds.
“The government has proposed an O&M survey in the health sector. We are working on a proposal to address the need for minimum workforce requirement of at least one federal hospital in each six provinces,” he said.
He said the government decisions aiming to address doctors and health workers will be implemented.
“We have tried to systematize the daily work schedule of doctors. The discussion on continuing an OPD on a public holiday does not apply for Saturday. There are tentatively 24 such public holidays in a year and our attention is on how to manage such holidays,” he said. (RSS)
