US Deputy Secretary of State, Verma, pays courtesy call on PM Oli

Kathmandu: The United States Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard R. Verma, has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister, Singha Durbar, today, they discussed the matters of bilateral relations and mutual welfare, according to PM Oli’s Secretariat.

PM Oli extended gratitude for continuous support of the US government since 1950 in Nepal’s socio-economic development sector.

He also expected cooperation of the US government in various areas of development of Nepal. The Prime Minister mentioned that Nepal is in the process of graduating to a developing country from least developed countries within 2026 and issues of laws related to transitional justice of Nepal is also in the process of finalization on the basis of political consensus.

Recalling the 77-year bilateral relations between the two countries, Deputy Secretary of State Verma said it is the matter of happiness for the US to be a partner in Nepal’s development.

The Ambassador also congratulated Nepal for taking the transitional justice towards logical conclusion.

The United States Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Verma,  has arrived here today on a day-long visit to Nepal.
