Morang: A female elephant, around the age of 7-8 years, has been found dead in ward 3 of Belbari Municipality in Morang.
According to the police, the initial investigations suggest that the elephant may have died from electric shock.
This year alone, half a dozen elephants have been killed in Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari districts of Terai.
Electrocution has been the primary cause of most of these deaths. In some cases, firearms have also been used to kill elephants, according to the police.
