Kathmandu: On Thursday, cooperative victims staged a demonstration by forming a human chain in Kathmandu. Hundreds of cooperative victims encircled the Tundikhel and Ratnapark areas, standing along the road and joining hands with each other after their agreement to solve their problem was not implemented even after 65 days.

The victims were also found wearing black tape on their mouths, indicating the silence of the government regarding cooperative frauds.

The demonstrators, who were organized by the national campaign to protect cooperative depositors, said they had to continue with their protests owing to government apathy towards implementing the past agreements and recovering their money deposited in cooperatives.

A parliamentary special committee has been investigating the issue as thousands of victims took to the streets in Kathmandu and various other parts of the country, demanding the recovery of their money.

It has been found that hundreds of cooperatives have embezzled billions of rupees deposited by the public.
