Kathmandu: Seven people were killed in a jeep accident that occurred at Parewas Chhahara in Rolpa district on Monday evening.
The accident occurred when a passenger jeep heading to Talabang from Ghartigaon in Rolpa fell nearly 400 meters down the road on Monday evening.
According to Police Inspector Rohit Kumar Shahi of Rolpa District Police, the deceased in the incident were Khadga Dangi, 77, Amrita Gharti, 30; Jun Maya Khadka, 33; Ram Kali Pun, 31; Karma Ghartimagar, 50; Chup Lal Dangi, 27, and a girl child, and all of them were from Rolpa district.
Among the eight passengers injured in the accident, six are in a critical condition, while two have been discharged after treatment.
The injured ones have been receiving treatment in Butwal.
The passengers were returning home after shopping in the market. Jeep driver Dipak Thapamagar is also among the injured people.
There were 15 passengers, including the driver, in the jeep.
The accident has left the entire Talabang village in melancholy.
It is said the accident took place after the driver tried to escape a landslide on the road.
