Following the instructions of Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, the Thamel and Darbarmarg areas of the valley have been opened for 24 hours daily since April 13. The Kathmandu District Administration Office issued the ‘Code of Conduct and Safety Management Standards for Full Time Business Operating Organization, 2024’ on April 12.
The decision taken by the government has drawn the serious attention of women human rights defenders, networks working in the field of human rights, organisations, and workers, saying that workers’ rights and human rights should be properly addressed.
The Constitution of Nepal, 2015, mentions that all Nepali citizens have the right to employment and the right to fair labor practice and draws attention to its implementation. Women’s Human Rights Defenders District Network, General Secretary Gomawati Pun, signed the issued notice, and various organizations have expressed their solidarity.
