Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has announced Milan Limbu as its contender for the upcoming by-election in the Ilam-2 House of Representatives constituency.
Following deliberations with six potential candidates at the party’s central office in Kathmandu on Thursday, Limbu became the unanimous choice for RSP’s representation in the by-election.
The decision was made as the other five candidates withdrew their names, supporting Limbu’s candidacy.
The Election Commission has scheduled the by-election for Ilam-2 to take place on April 27, with the deadline for filing candidacies set for April 6.
Milan Limbu, a former journalist previously associated with CPN (Maoist Center), severed ties with the party and declared an independent candidacy for Ilam-2.
The Ilam-2 constituency seat has been vacant since the passing of UML Vice-chairman Subash Nembang on September 12, 2023.
The CPN-UML has nominated Suhang Nembang, also a member of the UML’s law department and the son of Subash Nembang, as their candidate for the by-election.
Also, CPN (Unified Socialist) has put forward Jeet Bahadur Rai as their contender, while Rastriya Prajatantra Party has chosen Laxmi Gurung.
