Kathmandu: Nepal’s national cricket team showcased their dominance in the ICC CWC League 2 Tri-Series by clinching a resounding nine-wicket triumph over the Netherlands in their second match. This victory, achieved with a remarkable chase completed in just 15.2 overs, marks Nepal’s third-fastest chase in ODI history.
Batting second, Nepal’s opener Kushal Bhurtel provided an explosive start, smashing 28 runs off just 11 deliveries, which included two boundaries and three sixes. Following his blistering performance, Anil Sah and Aasif Sheikh built an unbroken partnership of 105 runs for the second wicket. Anil’s innings of 57 runs off 36 balls, comprising six fours and four sixes, guided Nepal to victory alongside Aasif’s composed knock of 54 runs off 45 balls, featuring eight boundaries and one six.
On the bowling front, Nepal showcased discipline and skill to restrict the Netherlands to a modest total of 137 runs in 39 overs. Sompal Kami’s early breakthrough set the tone for Nepal, while Kushal Bhurtel starred with the ball, claiming four crucial wickets with his off-spin. Rajbanshi and Rohit Paudel also made significant contributions with the ball, disrupting the Dutch batting lineup.
On Thursday, Nepal had suffered a four-wicket defeat against Namibia in the inaugural match of the League 2.
