Kathmandu: The China Foundation for Rural Development distributed warm packs to 1,249 children in Kanchanpur district, aiming to deliver the love of the Chinese people during the auspicious occasion of the approaching Spring Festival, also called Chinese New Year.
The support was carried out in 11 community schools in Bedkot, Suklaphanta, and Krishnapur Municipalities of the district. The foundation has been implementing such a program since 2019 to help needy community school children endure the severe winter with ease.
The distribution ceremony, held at Udaydev Secondary School in Bedkot Municipality, was attended by Member of the State Assembly Bahadur Singh Thapa as the Chief Guest, along with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Suklaphanta Municipality, the Deputy Mayor of Belkot Municipality, a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, School Management Committee members, teachers, students, and parents.
This event marked a collaborative effort to spread warmth and cheer to support those in need. Thapa highlighted the commendable efforts of the Chinese organization in supporting backward communities and advocated for enhancing educational standards in community schools, similar to those in private institutions.
