Jajarkot: An one-month-old infant died of cold in the earthquake-affected region of Jajarkot district.
The child, Niruta, a one-month-old daughter of Hukum Bahadur Pun, residing in Tripal Municipality-2 of Bheri, passed away.
According to Kali Bahadur Oli, a former chair of Bheri-2, the infant, who had been ill for three days, was admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
“Niruta succumbed to pneumonia during the course of treatment,” reported Krishna Bahadur Khatri, Information Officer at the District Health Service Office.
In Jajarkot, more than 50 girls are suffering from various illnesses, with 11 individuals, including elderly and children, losing their lives after the recent earthquake. The region experienced a magnitude 6.4 earthquake on the night of October 16.
As a result of the earthquake, 154 people have lost their lives, with 46 individuals still missing. The disaster has caused complete damage to 26,557 private homes and partial damage to 35,455 homes.
