Kathmandu: The government of Japan handed over mammography equipment to the Nepal Cancer Care Foundation in Satdobato in Lalitpur on Tuesday.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese Government, the project to install medical equipment for breast cancer screening at the Nepal Cancer Care Foundation was supported with Rs 8.3 million.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Kikuta Yutaka emphasized that the early detection and treatment are crucial to cure diseases such as breast cancer, one of the most common cancers among Nepali women. “The project would enable detecting breast cancer at an early stage and improve the health and quality of life of individuals, families and communities in Nepal. The project will deepen the friendship between Japan and Nepal,” he said.
